Rucker, who will attend Alabama in the fall, received the first-ever Bishop Effell Williams Scholarship.

“I’m so appreciative and thankful, this will help me with college,” said Rucker, a co-salutatorian at MCS.

Gayle, a co-salutatorian at Selma High, will attend Alabama A&M in the fall.

“It feels great to receive this scholarship, this will help me with my college education,” Gayle said.

100 Black Men Selma President Billy Young said it’s always an honor to reward scholarships.

“Our children are trained and educated in Selma, then they leave and succeed elsewhere,” Young said.
