Lewis Orr Persons, Sr., 92, passed away on May 29, 2022, in Tallahassee, FL.  Lewis was born in Selma, Alabama, on May 14, 1930, to the late Fannie Bradshaw and William Orr Persons. He grew up in Selma, where he married his beloved wife of 71 years, Angela (Angie) Gallagher. In Selma, Lewis owned an insurance and real estate company and was an active member of Central Baptist Church. In 1982, he and Angie moved to Tallahassee where he continued his real estate career and joined Thomasville Road Baptist
Church. For 25 years, Lewis served as a member of theBoard of Directors of Big Bend Transit.

Lewis was an avid FSU baseball fan, attending many games with his son. He was a US Army veteran who served in Korea from 1950 to 1953. He was very proud of his service as a US Army tank commander and most days could be seen wearing his 2nd Infantry Division commemorative hat.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Angela Gallagher Persons; a loving son, Lewis Orr Persons, Jr.; a sister, Louise Parker (Jerry); and a brother, Charles Persons (Doris). He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Persons, Jr. (Billie June).
Lewis was deeply loved by his grandchildren, Matthew Persons (Crystal); Elizabeth Van Vliet (Danny); Angela Den Bleyker (Chuck), great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and numerous friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, patience, and compassion by all who knew him.
Lewis will be interred at the National Veterans Cemetery on Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee.
