Alan Dailey narrowly remained Dallas County Coroner for a fifth time.  State Rep. Prince Chestnut cruised to an easy victory.

Dailey beat Kirsten Perry by over one percent 50.51 to 49.49. Dailey received 4,583 votes to Perry’s 4,491.

Chestnut won a second time as State Rep. 67, securing 71.69 percent of the vote over Larine Pettway.

Dailey said he is grateful that the voters elected him again. “I’m certainly appreciative of all the voters that voted for me,” Dailey said. “I will continue to do the job as coroner to the best of my ability and give it my all as I have done for the past 18 years in there. I’m just humbled by the voters that voted for me. I’m just happy and pleased.”

In the other race that was Dallas County, William Minor won the Dallas County Board of Education seat over Mae Taylor Richmond.

Minor had 767 votes (58 percent) compared to 553 votes (41.89 percent) to Richmond.

In the 4th Judicial District Attorney race, incumbent Michael Jackson edged Robert Turner Jr. 4,728 to 4,228 in Dallas County. At press time, the results in Perry County, Bibb County, Hale County and Wilcox County were not completed.

In the State Senator District 23 race, Robert Stewart won Dallas County (4,553 votes) over Hank Sanders (2,814) and Darrio Melton (1,323).

District 23 includes the Counties of: Wilcox, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry, Butler, Conecuh and Monroe. Those results have not been decided.

Absentee ballots in Dallas County will be counted next week. A runoff election will be held on June 21.
