Selma High held graduation ceremony at WCCS

Selma High is the first Dallas County school to hold its graduation ceremony last week.

Over 125 seniors received their diplomas on May 13 at Wallace Community College-Selma.

Valencia Bryant was the Class Valedictorian, finishing with 4.5 GPA and 26 ACT score. She will attend the University of Alabama in the fall., majoring in Biology with focus toward Pre-Med. Bryant discussed the Class of 2022 prep experiences in her speech.

“Selma High was a home to me,” Bryant said. “I’m so proud of everyone in this class.”

Camron Gayle and Devon Benjamin were co-Salutatorians.

Alexias Walker, The Selma Times-Journal girls basketball player of the year, said graduation is an important accomplishment in her life. She will attend Alabama A&M University, majoring in Engineering.

“I feel good and excited about graduation,” Walker said.

Dylan Walker, an All-State linebacker by the Alabama Sportswriters Association,  said graduating is a proud moment.

“It feels great to graduate from Selma High,” Walker said.
