City and County officials attend 57th Bridge Crossing Jubilee

The Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee was attended by a strong mix of former local, state and national politicians over the weekend.

On Sunday, Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, County Commissioners Connell Towns, Vivian Rogers, Selma City Councilwomen Christie Thomas, Jannie Thomas, Lesia James, Selma City Council President Billy Young, City Councilmen Michael Johnson, Clay Carmichael, Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr., State rep. Prince Chestnut and Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Collins Pettaway Jr., Orrvlle Mayor Louvenia Lumpkin, Orrville City Councilman William Lumpkin, Selma Housing Authority Executive Director Kennard Randolph and Perry County Commissioner Albert Turner Jr.

U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell was one of the earlier speakers on Sunday.

Former Selma Mayor Darrio Melton, former Selma City Councilwoman Angela Benjamin also attended on Sunday. Melton is running for State Senator.

Former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman attended Saturday’s jubilee events. Siegelman is Alabama’s last Democrat Governor in 1998.

“I enjoyed myself and had a great time,” Siegelman said.

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson attended Saturday.
