Mr. Matthew James Blakes, 79, of Selma, AL, passed away February 15, 2022 in Selma. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2022, 1 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, officiated by Rev. Michael Gordon and directed by Randall Miller Funeral Service Inc.

Survivors include: daughters, Cynthia Crum-Cook (Lee Earnest); Elizabeth “Punnie” Blakes, Nita Sullivan-Davidson (Ernest); brothers, Willie Blakes Jr., Bobby (Yvonne) Blakes, Eddie “Tim” Blakes; sisters, Georgia Blakes-Williams (David), Rosie Blakes-Henderson, Christine Blakes-Griffin; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special and devoted companion Rosie Lee “Red” Doss.
