Selma teenager killed over the weekend

The Selma Police Department is investigating the murder of a Selma teenager over the weekend.

According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, a 19-year-old African-American teenager died from gunshot wounds on the 1800 block of St. John Street. Fulford identified the victim as Quinarius Miss.  The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. Sunday night.

“Officers responded to the 1800 block of St. John Street in reference to shots fired and victims,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, officers discovered that a black male 19 years of age suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.”

Fulford said that a 18-year-old African-American male was grazed in the face and struck on the hip during the shooting. He was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries.

Fulford said there are no suspects at this time and the incident remains under investigation by the SPD.

This is the third murder of the year in Selma.
