Selma cooking author shares successful ingredients at Selma-Dallas County Library

Kate Wood enjoys being a Selma resident.

Wood discussed her book, “Her Daily Bread,” at the Selma-Dallas County Public Library on Thursday. The book was released on December 14 by HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

The book is a solid combination of weekly assorted recipes that includes chocolate chip cookies and rotisserie chicken, daily readings and bible verses with sprinkles of humor.

“Writing this book fed my life in so many ways,” Wood said.

“God orchestrated all of this and God had ideas for me. God feeds my heart and uses the people and circumstances in my life to grow and sustain me in so many unique ways .”

Wood and her family have lived in the Queen City for the last eight years. She and her husband, Brett Wood met while they were graduate students at UAB. They have three children: Aimee, George and Charlie.

“I love Selma, people in Selma offer warmth,” Wood said.

Wood received a graduate degree in clinical nutrition from UAB and was a dietitian at UAB and Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Once Wood began cooking and started what later became an award-winning blog in 2017, the Orlando, Florida native pursued cooking full-time.

“Baking is a hobby for me, so it isn’t stressful or challenging most of the time,” Wood said. “I love baking. It’s a lot of work.”
