Two former Meadowview Christian School students earned Eagle Scout certificates last weekend.

Hunter Nichols and Blake Ogle  received their awards at Church Street UMC.

Nichols, who graduated from MCS last spring, began scouting as a member of Troop 26 and served leadership roles as Senior Patrol Leader and Troop Chaplain.

Nichols is a member of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society. He played football and baseball at MCS  and a member of the Youth Leadership Selma – Dallas County Program.

For Nichols, the Eagle Project included building and installing benches at Camp Grist.  He designed, gathered materials and oversaw the construction and installed benches with the help of other Boy Scouts.

“Being a Eagle Scout is a huge accomplishment and honor, I’ve been working for this the last seven years,” Nichols said.

Ogle played football and baseball at MCS. His scouting began as a member of Pack 26. As a Cub Scout, Ogle earned Bobcat, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Badge and his Arrow of Light.

For Ogle, his eagle project consisted of repairs and organization at the Orrville Fire Department. He had to design, construct and organize storage areas for the Fire Department.

“I’ve been working on this accomplishment for half of my life,” Ogle said. “It was really a big opportunity.”

Eagle Scout Master Ed King said he’s proud of both Nichols and Ogle. “I’ve enjoyed seeing them grow up for the last seven years,” King said. “Hopefully being an Eagle scout helps prepare them for life.”

Nichols is the son of Pete and Sandi Nichols and brother to Hayden Nichols.

Ogle is the son of Barry and Becky Anderson. He is currently employed at South East Hydraulic.
