Dixie Youth Baseball was the biggest agenda item under new business as Alabama State Director Ricky Paturos spoke. Paturos and his brother  discussed the possibility of Valley Grande joining the team.

Paturos said there were two fees: $55 state fee and $14 per franchise (age groups). He said Valley Grande is ideal for a Dixie Youth team.

A Dixie Youth Baseball team is currently in Dallas County. The 11-12-year-old team won the state title and advanced to the Dixie Youth World Series.

Labbe and the council are open to the idea of having a team in Valley Grande.

“It will give our kids an opportunity to see what’s out there and the competition,” Labbe said.

In other council news:

-Labbe said the city audit is still underway by Chris Neuenschwander of the Jackson Thornton Accounting firm.

Labbe said the audit should be completed by end of year and Neuenschwander will appear at the first or second council meeting of 2022.

The next Valley Grande City Council meeting will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 6 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall.
