The Son Light Center received two donations from AL-TOM RC &D Resource Conservation and Development Council this week.

A donation of $7,500 and Forklift were presented to the Son Light Center on Tuesday.

Marie Lowder of AL-TOM and Noopie Cosby of the Cosby Company made the presentation to Son Light Board Chairman and Gospel Tabernacle Pastor John E. Grayson and Son Light Executive Director Betty Olroyd.

Rep. Prince Chestnut and State Senator Malika Sanders-Fortier also attended the presentation.

The project is needed to help unload food to families across Dallas County, often on Tuesdays at Bloch Park. “We are very grateful and thankful, I appreciate Mr. Cosby and the RC&D,” Grayson said.

Olroyd said the project is important, especially for the senior citizens in the area.

Lowder said its an honor to help communities across the state. “We are able to take full advantage of funding from the state legislature,” Lowder said.

Cosby said the timing was perfect to make donation to the Son Light Center.

Chestnut said the area can always count on the RC&D. “The RC&D has always funded projects in the Black Belt Region, they do a great job,” Chestnut said.

Sanders-Fortier said she appreciates the work of Grayson. “I’m a big admirer of Pastor Grayson and his work,” Sanders-Fortier said. “He’s fed so many people in this area.”
