Jason Robert Elias Purifoy Hurt Celebration of Life was held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Alabama; Reverend James Perkins, Jr. Eulogist-Officiant; Walker ortuary directing.

Jason was born March 6, 1984 at 8 a.m.. to the parentage of Elias and Jo Ann Purifoy Hurt in the Vaughan Hospital.  He departed this life September 24, 2021 at 8 p.m.

At the age of four, Jason entered East End Elementary Pre-K and Kindergarten; he then attended Edgewood Elementary, School of Discovery and Selma Middle. He was a Selma High School Graduate class of 2002.  After high school, he attended Wallace Community College-Selma.

In 1998, Jason accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized and joined First Baptist Church, Selma.  He later attended Ebenezer Missionary Baptist, Selma and its Bible Study with his beloved James Perkins and called himself a “Visiting Member”. He told his son, “Do your best and God will do the rest, in his last message to him.

For a while he was self-employed: Curb Appeal Service, cleaning and organizing homes, yards and business facilities.  He just recently said, that was his gift, his talent, organizing.  He was clean, neat, and organized and believed “Everything had a place.”

Finally he said, “I Found My Home”, his much loved home at the Alabama State Department of Education “AMSTI” Alabama Mathematics, Science, Technology Institute under the direction of Wallace Community College, Selma, where he was a Master Technician and loved every moment of his work.

Jason was a very unique young man in many ways.  He was very quiet and reserved which often made people miss-judge him.  Because of his personality, he often said he was a “True Pisces”.

His perceptions of life far exceeded reality.  He viewed life as it should be and not as it is today.  In his last talk, he said, “God is mad and disappointed with man and He’s taking back, all he has given us.”  That’s Jason! Jason said his greatest accomplishment was his son, whom he dearly loved.  Jason predicted his son will be a great success.  Jason was a great father. Jason leaves many friends and loved ones: mother, Jo Ann Purifoy Hurt; son, Jason Jalen Howard-Hurt; devoted brother, Bobby whom Jason called his surrogate Father and his wife; Jackie, his health advisor; Titus Johnson, his heart brother of TN.; other siblings: Linda, Hassan, Carol and Carl of Detroit, Mattie of Birmingham, god-parents: Col. Fred and Shirley Jones of Virginia.; close cousins, Joseph Walton and Madline “Pat” Mitchell of Selma; Jessie Montgomery, neighbor of Selma, his beloved staff of AMSTI; numerous other relatives and friends.
