The city of Valley Grande held its first annual Fall Festival last weekend at the City Park.

Tally Ho and Harpersville each had food trucks and Kona Ice was available for the kids.

Happiness Nutrition 27, Gypsey Gem, Life Health and Valley Grande Volunteer Fire Department were among the 26 vendors at the city park.

Other vendors were selling jewelry, pork skins, homemade candies at their separate tables.

The Valley Grande City Council- Mayor Wayne Labbe, council members Robbie Rose, Sara Day, Kay Davidson, Clerk Kim Harris all were available in their sky blue Valley Grande City shirts.

Labbe said he was pleased with the event’s turnout. He predicted that the residents would enjoy themselves. The timing was perfect, especially before the Auburn-Georgia and Alabama-Texas A&M games that afternoon.

“It was a great day to have the festival, the weather was perfect,” Labbe said. “We had a good time and people enjoyed themselves.”

Day who’s in charge of community events for the city council, was overjoyed . The parking lot was packed for most of the five-hour event.

“I’m extremely pleased at how it turned out,” Day said. “It’s a great turnout. We appreciate the vendors and everybody coming out.”

Labbe drove the kids on a barrel train. Rose took the kids on a hayride, led by his tractor. Kids spent time in a bouncy house and the rock climbing wall.

Selma resident Amanda Hopkins, one of the vendors, said she enjoyed the festival.

“It’s always great to support the local economy and business owners,” Hopkins said.

Two packs of Pumpkins were purchased from Dave’s Market and each resident received one.

The Dallas County Sheriff Office were present, including Sheriff Mike Granthum.
