“We knew how important this game was for us because of homecoming and to stay in the Region race,” Saints coach Willie Gandy said. “We ran the ball well tonight.”

Amari Thomas and Dylan Walker each scored touchdowns for the Saints.

“Winning the homecoming game means a lot to us,” Walker said. “We had a good week of practice and the whole team played well.”

Selma jumped out to a 8-0  lead early in the second quarter on Walker’s 3-yard TD run and two-point conversion.

The Panthers (9-6, 0-3) cut the gap to 8-7 on Coden Cummings’ 80-yard TD reception from Hayden Robinson 45 seconds later.

Jemison had a chance to grab the lead late in the second quarter, reaching the Saints’ 25 yard line.

The Saints’ defense stopped Jemison, preventing them from taking the lead.

Walls’ 1-yard TD run and Thomas’ two-point conversion on the final play of the second quarter gave the Saints a 16-7 halftime lead.

Walls and Thomas each scored touchdowns in the third quarter to close the scoring.

Freshman Jordan Lamar had an interception for the Saints. “The defense has played well all year for us,” Gandy said.
