The Alabama Pardon and Paroles denied parole to a Dallas County man last week.

Dornell Billingsley was denied parole for a manslaughter charge he was involved in 12 years ago.  He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in February, 2012. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison by Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Marvin Wiggins.

According to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, the killing began between L.L. Anderson Avenue and Minter Avenue on Sept. 12, 2008. An argument started when Billingsley stood in the street and would not move.
When Eric Walker attempted to drive through, an argument ensued and shots were fired. As someone fired shots, Walker got into his car and drove away.  Walker’s 1996 Ford Mustang struck a power pole at Church Street and Jeff Davis Avenue. He hit the pole and flipped his car.

Billingsley, who could be released in September, 2028, is currently incarcerated at the William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility.
