Laps for Lupus/ Mental Health Fair held last weekend

The Laps for Lupus/Mental Health Fair and Family Fun Day was held at two different locations last weekend.

A 5K Walk/run was held at Block Park. YMCA hosted the Health Fair.  LIFT Ministries, Snow’s Cleaning Service, the YMCA and the Michael Johnson Foundation sponsored the event.

Proceeds from the events went to the Selma Lupus Support Group and Cahaba Mental Health.

Here are the organizations that contributed to the event: Selma AIR/Blackbelt Wellness Center, Vaughn Regional Medical Center, The Atchison Law Firm, The Cahaba Mental Health Center, Drug Free Communities of Perry County, Dallas County DHR, Living with Lupus Successfully Support Group, Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth & Reconciliation, The Recharge Project, KFC, Dominoes Pizza, Triple A Transportation Neely Charter Transportation, Warren Manor Health and Rehabilitation and The Rural Health and Lung Study.

Selma councilwoman Christie Thomas, Dallas County Commissioner Curtis Williams, his wife, Jerolene Williams and their daughter LaTanglia Williams of LIFT Ministries and LeMarkus Snow of Snow’s cleaning service were among the officials who attended.

“I want to thank all the outstanding sponsors and the beautiful crowd who’s always so supportive and engaging,” Jerolene Williams said. “Mental health and Lupus are two illnesses that affect many people and an early awareness makes recovery quicker.

Added Snow: “It was a great community event. It was an enjoyable event and I’m so glad to have been a part of.”
