Registered nurse Ann Kennedy was named the Mercy Award Winner at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and CEO. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

“At Vaughan Regional Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” VRMC CEO David McCormack said.

“We are extremely proud to recognize Ann Kennedy for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”

A Registered Nurse for 13 years, Kennedy is currently the Chest Pain Coordinator and works full-time in the Catheterization Laboratory. During the hospital’s highest COVID census days, Kennedy was instrumental in re-opening a second ICU to care for critical COVID patients.

She not only worked extra hours after her shift in the Cath Lab ended and picked up extra shifts in ICU. She volunteered to work several days in COVID Vaccine Clinic including the hospital’s Mass Vaccine Clinic at Bloch Park where the hospital vaccinated over 5,000 people in three days.

Kennedy is a member of the Selma Charity League Inc. and serves as a Board Member to benefit the needy and underprivileged individuals.

Kennedy is an also Officer of College City Drug Store in Marion, active with the Marion United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Selma.
