Burnsville hit by tornado Wednesday

A tornado was on the ground in North Dallas County on Wednesday.

Dallas County EMA Director Toya Stiles said a tornado was the ground in Burnsville after noon Wednesday. Stiles said power lines were down, trees blocking roadways, and one home damaged from the tornado. Stiles said there were on injuries reported.

A tornado watch remained in effect in Dallas County until 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

Shelters are being established at a number of locations in advance of the approaching storms, including in Burnsville, Orrville, Valley Grande and Platersville, as well as Southside High School, Selma High School, Tipton Durant Middle School and one along J.L. Chestn ut Boulevard in Selma.
