Selma man killed in one-vehicle accident in Dallas County

A Selma man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday in Dallas County.

According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Charles Latrail Cooper, 32, was a passenger in a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria that left the roadway and struck a tree. Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was driven by Antonio Tyrone Johnson, 34, who was seriously injured. Johnson was seriously injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. Cooper and Johnson were both ejected from the vehicle.

The crash occurred on Dallas County 56, approximately two miles east of Selma. Although the circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation by ALEA, speed is considered a factor.

No further details are available as Troopers with ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
