A Dallas County resident helped Northside Baptist Church give away 100 meals to local residents last week at Vasser’s Mini Mart.

Charles Ellis donated the amount to serve Selma and Dallas County residents at Vasser’s mini mart.

Northside Baptist Church members Kathy Smith and her husband, Jerry Smith, handed out the tickets to residents. Vasser’s owner Jamie Calvert and Gene Hiskel also attended. Calvert’s wife, Missy Calvert, is Hiskel’s daughter.

“Charles Ellis has been a blessing behind the scenes, he’s got a big heart as big as Texas,” Kathy Smith said. “He does a lot of things for the community.”

Kathy Smith said the theme for the food giveaway remains the same: spreading God’s love in the community.

“We want people to know that God loves them, put smiles on their faces and feed them at the same time,” Kathy Smith said.
