Northside Baptist Church honors Law Enforcement and First Responders
Northside Baptist Church held its annual Law Enforcement and First Responders Appreciation Day on Friday.
Dallas County Sheriff Office, Selma Police Department, Selma Fire Department, volunteer fire fighters and first responders were honored at Northside Baptist Church. They were treated to a dinner of spaghetti, salad, hot dogs and assorted desserts.
Six heroes were honored at the event: Willie Calhoun (DCSO), Jason Crum (SPD), Kenneth Thomas (State Troopers), Walter Dailey (SFD) Jeff Simmers (EMS) and Bill Grimes (Volunteer Fire Department).
Northside Baptist Church member Kathy Smith, one of the event’s organizers, said the goal is to thank the DCSO, SPD and first responders for keeping the community safe.
“January 9th is Law Enforcement and First Responders Appreciation Day, but we can’t honor them on that day because it’s so close to Christmas,” Smith said. “We want the law enforcement and first responders that we appreciate them. If we could honor them every day, we would.”
Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn attended the event.
