Gospel Tabernacle Church and Sonlight Outreach teamed up to give away food boxes under cold rain and heavy wind Friday at Bloch Park. Several vehicles entered the park and picked up boxes.

Gospel Tabernacle Pastor John E. Grayson, his wife Dr. CeCe Grayson, Betty Oldroyd and Team Fresh Start of Lincoln handed out 2,000 boxes that contained frozen chicken, vegetable, onions, yogurt and assorted fruits.

Dr. Grayson said the boxes arrived from Florida off two 18-wheeler trucks to the Queen City. An organization called Farms to Family donated the food.

“It’s a blessing that we are able to give out this amount of food in the pandemic,” Dr. Grayson said.

“People are willing to come out in the cold rain to get food,” Oldroyd said.
