Margaret Stone Snyder, age 97, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2020 from Southland Nursing Home in Marion. Margaret was an avid Atlanta Braves and University of Alabama football fan. She loved to read, having read easily several thousand books in her lifetime. She loved attending Marion United Methodist Church in Marion and enjoyed the wonderful friends she had there. She was bright, intelligent and had a great sense of humor, which she retained to the end. She was also awfully hard to beat in a game of Scrabble.
Margaret was born on April 5, 1923 to James R. Stone and Willie G. Stone in Sprott. She moved from the family farm in Sprott to Montgomery after graduating from Suttle High School. She lived in Montgomery until 1993 when she moved to Marion to be close to her surviving siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Anne Synder; sons, Joseph Leonard Snyder (Ginger) and James Arthur Snyder (Emily), seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her six brothers and four sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Mount Pleasant Freewill Baptist cemetery in Sprott, Alabama with Kirk Funeral Home Marion Chapel directing.
