Margaret Roling Griffin, age 94, of Selma. passed away Saturday, October 17,  2020. Born January 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Clemmie Freeman Roling and Florence Chancey Roling of Orion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Powell Everette Griffin. They were married for 16 years until his death in 1967.

She is survived by her children, Denise Griffin Young (Peter-deceased), Dale Griffin Scroggins (Art), and David Everette Griffin; and grandsons: David Arthur Scroggins and Scott David Scroggins. She is predeceased by her brother C.F. Roling (Ellen-deceased) of Troy.

Mrs. Griffin was a graduate of Huntingdon College and received a degree in sociology and later earned her teacher certification from Montevallo College. She taught third grade for thirteen years at Edgewood Elementary School. In addition, she enjoyed selling World Books and welcoming newcomers to Selma. She was active in the community, participating in Community Concerts, Delta Kappa Gamma, Trellis Garden Club, and West End Study Club. Mrs. Griffin was devoted to her family, friends, and church, and she never met a stranger.

Due to COVID-19, a private burial service will be held at New Live Oak Cemetery at 11 a.m. on  Tuesday, October 20, 2020. The service will be directed by Dr. Jerry Light, Dr. Al Jackson, and Dr. Berry Driver, and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.
