The Dallas County Family Resource Center (DCFRC) is once again seeking sponsors for its Annual Christmas Tree Walk.

DCFRC Program Director Amy Carmichael said this year’s event will look different than it has in year’s past, but will nonetheless be a fun-filled family event for the holiday season.

Carmichael said the DCFRC is partnering with local businesses to light up Broad Street with sponsored Christmas trees leading all the way to Songs of Selma Park.

Carmichael said this fun, seasonal event provides a free and festive activity for families to enjoy, while promoting shopping in Selma’s downtown business district, bringing revenue to the city.

The DCFRC is asking supporters to sponsor a Christmas tree and signage to advertise their business and compete for the prize of Best Decorated Tree, Social Media Favorite and Best Window Display.

The Christmas Tree Walk grand opening event will take place following the City of Selma Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec 5.

Any businesses that wishes to participate but is not located downtown or on Broad Street can sponsor a Christmas tree to be on display in Songs of Selma Park.

Businesses located near Broad Street will have the choice to have their tree outside of their business or at the Songs of Selma Park.

Trees will be delivered and set up Nov 23-25 and need to be decorated in the theme chosen by the business owner by Dec 4, the day before the annual City of Selma Christmas Parade.

The trees will remain up throughout the holiday season and closer to Christmas, The DCFRC will host its awards event at Songs of Selma Park, where the prizes will be awarded.

“By partnering with local organizations, we strive to make this year’s event betterthan ever,” said Carmichael. “With more holiday related things to do downtown, together we can bring holiday spirit and joy to downtown Selma.”
