A Selma man was arrested Wednesday morning for multiple drug charges.

Four law enforcement agencies arrested Kenyada Dukes, 33, on three counts of possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

Jackson said Dukes will be arraigned in the Dallas County Courthouse later this week.

The Dallas County Sheriff Office, ALEA, Drug Task Force and ATF Task Force all arrested Dukes, who had an attempted murder charge dropped.

Dukes was initially charged with attempted murder in February, 2019 with shooting Alfred Smart near Club Entourage at Alabama Avenue on Oct. 13, 2018. But Jackson said the charge was later dismissed because video of the shooting showed that it wasn’t Dukes despite being identified by eye witness testimony.

“We did not want an innocent person sitting in jail for a crime they did not commit,” Jackson said. “However, he’s on federal parole for a crime he was convicted of.”
