A school-by-school breakdown of SCS’s FY 2020-2021 budget

The Selma City Schools (SCS) Board of Education approved its annual budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1 and continues through Sept. 30, 2021, on Tuesday during its September board meeting.

The following is a closer look at the foundation program totals for each of the district’s nine schools including Clark Elementary, Sophia P. Kingston Elementary, School of Discovery, Edgewood Elementary, Knox Elementary, Meadowview Elementary Payne Elementary, Selma High School and R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy.

Clark Elementary School

The foundation program total for Clark Elementary School, with a projected enrollment of 207 students, is $1,291,143.

$905,726 of the total goes to the salaries of the school’s 27.63 employees.

$348,4834 of the program total goes toward fringe benefits.

Classroom instructional support for Clark Elementary totals $36,933 with $9,810 allotted for teacher materials and supplies, $5,723 for technology, $2,579 for library enhancement, $1,635 for professional development and $17,186 for textbooks.

Sophia P. Kingston Elementary School

The foundation program total for Sophia P. Kingston Elementary School, with a projected enrollment of 165 students, is $764,810.

$530,472 of the total goes to the salaries of the school’s 29.5 employees.

$211,763 of the program total goes toward fringe benefits.

Classroom instructional support for Sophia P. Kingston Elementary School totals $22,575 with $6,198 allotted for teacher materials and supplies, $3,616 for technology, $1,629 for library enhancement, $1,033 for professional development and $10,099 for textbooks.

School of Discovery

The foundation program total for School of Discovery, with a projected enrollment of 250 students, is $1,081,936.

$755,719 of the total goes to the salaries of the school’s 13.73 employees.

$291,661 of the program total goes toward fringe benefits.

Classroom instructional support for School of Discovery totals $30,239 with $8,238 allotted for teacher materials and supplies, $4,806 for technology, $2,165 for library enhancement, $1,373 for professional development and $17,989 for textbooks.

Edgewood Elementary School

The foundation program total for Edgewood Elementary School, with a projected enrollment of 330 students, is $1,930,380.

$1,339,443 of the total goes to the salaries of the school’s 39.14 employees.

$531,825 of the program total goes toward fringe benefits.

Classroom instructional support for School of Discovery totals $59,112 with $15,480 allotted for teacher materials and supplies, $9,030 for technology, $4,069 for library enhancement, $2,580 for professional development and $27,953 for textbooks.

Knox Elementary School

The foundation program total for Knox Elementary School, with a projected enrollment of 135 students, is $841,806.

$583,064 of the total goes to the salaries of the school’s 19.18 employees.

$233,529 of the program total goes toward fringe benefits.

Classroom instructional support for Knox Elementary School totals $25,213 with $6,858 allotted for teacher materials and supplies, $4,001 for technology, $1,803 for library enhancement, $1,143 for professional development and $11,408 for textbooks.

Meadowview Elementary School

The foundation program total for Meadowview Elementary School, with a projected enrollment of 231 students, is $1,533,147.

The foundation program total for Selma High School, with a projected enrollment of 775 students, is $3,662,123.

$2,541,420 of the total goes to the salaries of the school’s 81.94 employees.

$1,004,272 of the program total goes toward fringe benefits.

Classroom instructional support for Selma High School totals $116,431 with $29,088 allotted for teacher materials and supplies, $16,968 for technology, $7,646 for library enhancement, $4,848 for professional development and $57,881 for textbooks.

R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy

The foundation program total for R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy, with a projected enrollment of 451 students, is $1,796,632.

$1,240,316 of the total goes to the salaries of the school’s 51.39 employees.
