Selma High falls to Sipsey Valley in volleyball

Selma High payed tribute to former quarterback Keondre Hope before its volleyball contest against Sipsey Valley on Thursday.

Sipsey Valley knocked off the Lady Saints, winning 25-2, 25-10 and 25-6.

The school held a moment of silence for Hope, who died from injuries sustained in a ATV accident last weekend.

The Lady Saints players are Krysten Bethel, Amaya Pritchett, Aeronna Manuel, Alazia Harris,  Emily Smith, Cerya Blake, Niesha Lasly,  Tysherria Curtis,  Angel Martin,  Camaya Johnson, Darion Walton.  Jordin Martin, Tresher Rivers, Makiyah Jones.

The Lady Saints are coached by Katasha Turner Toia Bell is an assistant coach. Kamira Pritchett is the manager.

Despite a 0-2 record, Turner believes the Lady Saints have improved since practice and tryouts were last month.

“We’re still young and learning how to play together, we’re still improving,” Turner said.

Selma High travels to Keith High on Tuesday evening for a 5 p.m. kickoff in Orrville.
