Body of Missing boater found in Alabama River

A missing boater was found in the Alabama River on Thursday.

According to Fourth Judicial District Attorney Michael Jackson, Henry King went underwater Wednesday on the Alabama River in the Gees Bend area of Wilcox County in Camden and he never resurfaced.

The body was found Thursday afternoon by ALEA Marine Patrol. Jackson said King was celebrating his 58th birthday. King lived in Thomasville.

“The guy went out on the river for his birthday,” Jackson said. “He started swimming in the river, but got tired and drowned. His friends and family tried to save him, but he went under.”

The Monroe County Rescue Squad and Daphne Search and Rescue assisted the ALEA Marine Patrol with the incident.

Jackson is District Attorney of the Fourth Judicial District, which consists of Dallas County, Perry County, Bibb County, Hale County and Wilcox County.
