LIFT Ministries, Selma AIR and Blackbelt Wellness Center teamed up for a donation to the Dallas County Jail.

The three organizations donated soap and deodorant to Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum for the inmates at the Dallas County Jail.

Dallas County Warden Quintin Stevens, DCSO officer Tracey Sanders, Chief Matron Willia Phillips, Selma AIR’s Larry Cowan, William Callens of Blackbelt Wellness and LaTangilia Williams of LIFT Ministries all attended the event.

“The donations mean a lot and we appreciate it,” Granthum said. “It lets the inmates know that there’s hope for them when they get released. This shows the inmates that a stranger is thinking about them.”

This is LIFT Ministries’ second donation to the Dallas County Jail this summer. They donated supplies on Father’s Day.

“If I don’t help someone, my living has been in vain,” Williams said. “I want to live my life like Jesus did, as a servant.”

Cowan said it’s all about helping residents in Selma and Dallas County.

“We’re here for the community, from the oldest to the youngest, from the students to the incarcerated,” Cowan said. “We want to help anyway we can.”
