Bond set at $200,000 for Selma resident

Dallas County District Court Judge Bob Armstrong recused himself from an attempted murder case Thursday.

Armstrong recused himself from the Chadwick Mitchell case in the Dallas County Courthouse. Mitchell, 28, is charged with shooting Harrison Smith Tuesday in the area of Alabama Hwy. 219 near the railroad crossing and West Dallas Avenue. Smith was jogging when Mitchell shot him.

“Bob Armstrong said he was good friends with the victim,” Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said.

Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Collins A. Pettaway Jr. took over the case and set Mitchell’s bond at $200,000. Pettaway also ordered Mitchell to get mental health treatment and appointed attorney Tarackia Barge to represent Mitchell.
