The Christian Outreach Alliance (COA) of Dallas County Food Pantry will be open on Thursday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Distribution will once again be conducted via drive-through coming off Mabry Street onto the COA headquarters at 700 J. L. Chestnut Blvd. and exiting east onto J. L. Chestnut.
Clients must have a photo ID with them to be presented before receiving food.
The Christian Outreach Alliance of Dallas County has been an outlet for the citizens of Dallas County that need food assistance since 1995, 25 years.
The year 2020 has seen drastic changes in the incomes and lives of everyone, including the Food Pantry’s team of volunteers.
Operation has changed from inside the building to a drive-through operation.
There have also been occasions when weather has dictated the pantry open on a different day than the usual Thursday.
The pantry is also running with fewer volunteers as most of the regular volunteers are over the age of 60 or have underlying, potentially dangerous, health issues.
The location and faces of volunteers have changed but the COA’s mission to assist those that need food assistance has always remained.
Through both grants and donations, the organization continues to meet its goals of assisting people with food needs.
The COA asks clients to watch the window of the Pantry know for certain when they’ll be open, a sign will be posted before opening.
The pantry has plans to be open on the second and fourth Thursday of each month for the time being and clients can get their monthly allotment on either day.
The organization’s plans may change due to inclement weather or other reasons, but they will post on the window, on their Facebook page and on the radio.
