An Orrville man was arraigned Monday in the Dallas County Courthouse on a murder charge.

According to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, Jayron Sheffield was arraigned in connection to the murder of Tyrone Fuller on May 1 at the 400 block of Medical Center Parkway.

Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said the SPD responded to a shooting at the Felix Heights Housing Complex around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening and discovered the deceased body of Fuller.  Fulford said Sheffield was visiting his girlfriend when her ex-boyfriend came to visit her apartment. The two men got into an argument and led to the fatal shooting.

“The male subject had been shot upon arrival and was found deceased from a gunshot wound in a domestic situation,” Fulford said.

Dallas County District Court Judge Bob Armstrong set Sheffield’s bond at $15,000. Sheffield, 22, made bond on Monday, according to an employee at the Dallas County Jail.

Jackson explains why the bond was $15,000.

“Judge Armstrong set the bond at a low amount because of the circumstances surrounding the killing and based on what was said by the only people in the house at the time,” Jackson said. “The Dallas County Grand Jury will decide whether this was a self-defense shooting or not.”

Armstrong set Sheffield’s preliminary hearing on July 7, but he did not set a time.

Update: Sheffield’s attorney, Elliott Lipinsky, said the Dallas County Grand Jury dismissed the case this month.
