Selma man killed in shooting

A Selma man was killed last weekend.

Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said the shooting took place Saturday at the 300 block of Kings Bend Road. Fulford said Jerry Aaron, 20, eventually died from a gunshot wound.

“The Selma Police Department responded to the 300 block of King Bends Road in reference to a gunshot victim,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim had been transported to the hospital.”

Aaron, 20, eventually was pronounced dead at a hospital in Selma.

“We have no suspect at this time, the investigation is ongoing,” Fulford said.

This is the third homicide in the Queen City this year.

Melvin Jerome Marshall is charged with the murder of Renesia Levon Caver on April 11 at the  at the 3000 block of Burgandy Avenue. Marshall’s preliminary hearing date on the murder charge is set for June 2 at 1:30 p.m.  A 20-year-old woman, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, was also shot in the Easter weekend shooting.

Terry Webster, 22, was arrested on Feb. 7 for one count of murder related to a homicide that occurred on Feb. 7 at the 2000 block of Keller Avenue.The SPD identified the victim as a 17-year-old black male who died from an apparent gunshot wound. SPD did not reveal the victim’s name.
