Erin McIntyre is considered one of the top female high school athletes in Dallas County.

The senior at Meadowview Christian School has earned spots on The Selma Times-Journal All Dallas County teams in volleyball and basketball. She also is a cheerleader at MCS.

McIntyre also made the AISA All-Star teams in both volleyball and basketball.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic forced Gov. Kay Ivey to close K-12 schools statewide, McIntyre was playing softball for the Lady Trojans.

“I got talked into playing softball,” McIntyre joked. “I miss playing softball already.”

The AISA has suspended spring sports until Friday, leaving the door open for baseball, track, softball, tennis and golf seasons to resume.

McIntyre said she misses her classmates on the MCS campus.

“I’m sad not to be at school,” McIntyre said. “It’s hard, but I know the city has a curfew. I like school, I like my friends, I like my classes. My friends are a big part of my life.”

McIntyre said she has countless memorable moments at MCS.

“My favorite memory is bonding with my teammates on and off the court,” McIntyre said. “The relationships with my coaches, they’re like mom and dad to me. I will miss the family atmosphere at MCS. Everyone was there when I needed them.”

McIntyre also enjoyed playing for her older sister, Katey McIntyre Smith, the Lady Trojans’ volleyball coach. “I enjoyed being coached by Katey,” McIntyre said. “She’s a big part of my life.”
