Alabama State University’s (ASU) 2020 Presidential Bus Tour made a stop at Selma High on Wednesday morning.
“We’re here today to bring Alabama State University to Selma High School to give them an up close and personal look at all of the wonderful programs that we have to offer on our campus,” said ASU President Dr. Quinton T. Ross.
After students had a chance to interact with ASU faculty, staff and students to learn more about the programs the university has to offer, several Selma – Dallas County students were awarded Incentive Scholarships, which include full tuition and $500 toward textbooks, during an assembly.
“We believe in providing students with opportunities to make their dreams come true,” said Ross. “We’re going to make that happen today by awarding some deserving students some full-ride scholarships.”
Those awarded ASU Incentive Scholarships on Wednesday were Renari Wells and Keitha Howard form Selma High School, Antwan Blevins, Karly Bennett and Kennedy Smitherman from Dallas County High School, Maria Byrd and Edgerrin Moore from Southside High School and Ka’Terricia Martin from Keith High School.
Devon Tucker and Takelia Walker from Wilcox Central High School are also scholarship recipients, but were absent from Wednesday’s assembly.
