Lagoon repairs headline Valley Grande City Council meeting

The lagoon was one of the key topics at Valley Grande City Council meeting on Monday night.

Valley Grande Mayor Matt Dobbs asked Boyd Pugh, Valley Grande Public Safety Director, to speak with Engineer Ray Hogg of Hogg-Stone Associates regarding the approval to move forward with the chlorine chamber at the lagoon.

Pugh said that Hogg is checking prices and hadn’t heard back from him. Pugh said he’s waiting to hear from Hogg before anything can be done.

Valley Grande Parks and Recreation Director Bubba Holley addressed the council on the status of the upcoming baseball and softball season at Valley Grande City Park.

Holley said the player draft took place last week and a combined 20 teams will play either baseball and softball. Holley also said games will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  The season will start the first week of April. ScreenCo will be handling the uniforms, which will include a player’s last name and number on back.

Mayor Matt Dobbs, council members Ronnie Sawyer, Jimmy Johnson, Lamar Morgan, Tim White were present.  Councilwoman Tammy Troha was absent. Assistant City Clerk Kim Harris filled in the absence of City Clerk Janet Frasier, who’s running for Dallas County Tax Collector.

The next Valley Grande City Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. March 16 at Valley Grande City Hall.
