John Wesley Benjamin, Selma resident passed away February 19, 2020, at the age of 81 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church  with Pastor James Perkins Jr. officiating. Burial services will be held at Lorenzo Harrison, with Ashley J. Williams and sons directing.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah M. Benjamin and father, Johnnie Benjamin, sister Laura B. Fuller and brother Ricky Benjamin.

He  is survived by three daughters: Aida Benjamin, Bethany Benjamin and Isrealia Benjamin, all of Orlando, four brothers, Henry Mixon (Selma), Willie Benjamin (South Field ,Michigan), Earl (Margaret) Benjamin (Shreveport), Eddie Benjamin (Jackie, Buffalo) and three sisters: Mary (Harold) Easley (Evans, Georgia), Dorothy (Thomas) Reid (Pearland, Texas) and Bernice Coleman (Rev. Jimmy Coleman, Selma), two grandchildren, three brothers-in law, two sisters-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
