Morgan Academy and Meadowview Christian School both qualified for AISA Basketball playoffs.
The Senators and Lady Senators will host Russell Christian in a AISA Class AAA playoff doubleheader on Tuesday, starting at 4 p.m.
The Lady Trojans will host North River at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a Class A contest. MCS will play at Wilcox Academy at 6 p.m. Thursday.
First-round winners advance to the Elite 8 tournament, which will be played next week in Montgomery.
Morgan Academy coach Luke Hutcheson likes where the Senators (13-6) are headed into the postseason.
“I believe our boys are starting to click going into the playoffs,” Hutcheson said. “Our mental toughness has continued to grow, and our team is focused on getting to the Elite 8 and making a run. Russell Christian is a good team, and beating them solidifies our spot in the Elite 8. We know we have our work cut out for us, but we are up for the challenge.”
Morgan Academy girls coach Lebo Jones is proud how the Lady Senators have progressed despite a 6-13 record. “We are playing pretty well right now,” Jones said. “Hopefully we will be playing our best basketball going into the playoffs. Everybody’s healthy.’’
