A female is suspected of stealing a check from a mailbox at a Valley Grande resident.

According to Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum, the victim placed a $800 check for the IRS in her mailbox at the residence at the 500 block of Hoggle Road in Valley Grande on Jan. 2. The suspect allegedly took the check between Jan. 2 and Jan. 3.

DCSO investigators discovered it was the same check from the Valley Grande residence used in Prattville Walmart.

Granthum said the case remains under investigation by the DCSO.
