The stage in the Vaughan Room at the Selma – Dallas County Public Library was temporarily transformed into a runway on Thursday afternoon where a fashion show took place during “Lunch at the Library”.
Selma – Dallas County Public Library Director Becky Nichols said “Lunch at the Library” is always about the celebration of Selma.
Thursday’s event was a celebration of Selma’s downtown merchants, represented by Queen City Market.
According to Queen City Market Sales Representative Lillian Henson, Queen City Market was opened five years ago by local Realtor and entrepreneur Mandy Henry.
Since its grand opening five years ago, Henson said Queen City Market has been selling furniture, art, lighting, bridal gifts, jewelry and clothes to a loyal base of customers.
“Our goals are to continue to serve the City of Selma, we love it here and we’ve got loyal clientele,” said Henson.
Henson describes the Queen City Market aesthetic as an “eclectic and chic” mix of furniture clothing and other goods.
For the Thursday’s fashion show at the library, Henson outfitted models Maggie Youngblood, Rachel Tate, Lauryn Cummings and Mary Ashlyn Pearce in the latest fashions available at Queen City Market to the delight of the ladies in attendance.
The models showed off a variety of outfits to the crowd gathered in the Vaughan room, ranging from formal cocktail attire to simple, yet elegant, jeans.
After standing on the runway for a moment, the models walked through the crowd and allowed them to see the outfits in greater detail.
As an accompaniment to the fashion show, guests dined on a lunch of turkey croissants, sweet potato casserole with cranberry relish and tiny cupcakes for desert, prepared by Joyce’s Catering.
“It’s just another sensational day at the library,” Nichols said.
