John Croom Falkenberry

John Croom Falkenberry died on November 26, 2019 at age 76. He was a native of Selma, born on March 9, 1943. He attended Selma city schools and graduated in 1961 from Parrish High School. He was a devoted Boy Scout reaching the Eagle Scout rank. He was also active in the Grist YMCA, attending summer camps both as a camper and counselor at Camp Grist and Camp Tuckabachee.
John graduated from the University of Alabama and its Law School. He
practiced law in Birmingham for over 30 years. He loved sports, especially basketball and football. He was a founding member of the Birmingham Tip-off Club. He also was active for many years in Birmingham theater productions. His interests were also photography, writing and his beloved cats of many generations.
John was predeceased by his parents Roswell and Eleanor Rennie Falkenberry and his brother George Alan Falkenberry. He is survived by his sisters, Anne F. Knight (Joseph) and Rennie F. Edwards (Tom) , twonephews and a niece: Kirk Knight (Sarah) of Atlanta, Christopher Edwards (Whitney) of Richmond, VA and Leslie Edwards Higgins (Jarrod) of Portland, Oregon four great nieces and a great nephew: Madeleine, Lily, Emmeline, Georgia, Eva, Graham and Chloe.
Burial with be at graveside on Wednesday, Dec.4th at 2 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma.
