Dallas County lost a lot of its girls basketball stars from last year.

Selma High guard Rodericka Parker and Southside High forward Kylan Brown are the top returning girls’ basketball players in the area.

Selma High will reload under new coach Will Morgan, who led R.C. Hatch to the 2016 State Finals. The Lady Saints return guard Rodericka Parker, the 2018 Selma Times-Journal’s girls basketball player of the year.

“Replacing coach Anthony Harris will be big shoes to fill,” Morgan said.  “The biggest challenge is getting to break old habits.”

Southside’s team will revolve around 5-foot-11 Brown.

“We’re replacing four starters from the Co-champions in our area,” Lady Panthers coach Rand Smith said.

Morgan Academy will rely on its six seniors: Abbie Bohannon, Caroline Thomas, KaLee Jones, Averee Adams, Kenley Kauffman and Mary Ashlyn Pearce.

“We should be pretty good,” Lady Senators coach Lebo Jones said.

Erin McIntyre and Taylor Greene will be the senior leaders at Meadowview Christian School.

New Dallas County coach Alec Pitts has junior twins Kristalyn Briggins and Sherilyn Briggins among the building blocks for the Lady Hornets.

Keith High coach Cecil Williams said his young squad will be competitive behind junior Ja’Nasha Jones.

All Dallas County performer Domeria Pratt returns for Ellwood Christian Academy.
