The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) and Central Alabama CrimeStoppers are joining forces to fight crime in Dallas County.

The two organizations announced their partnership at a press conference Wednesday in the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

Dallas County residents can contact CrimeStoppers when they have information regarding a crime in the area. Residents can contact CrimeStoppers four different ways: call the 24-hour tip line at 334-215-STOP, download the P3-tips app, give information at www.215STOP.com or the facebook page at www.Facebook.com/215stop/.

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum said the department welcomes the addition of Central Alabama CrimeStoppers to help solve crimes.

“In the past, anyone who had a tip on a crime would call the old crimestoppers number, but they would only get a recording,” Granthum said. “Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has a line that’s monitored 24-7. Someone will be able to take the information.”

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers Executive Director Tony A. Garrett said the organization has a strong reputation.

“We consider our organization to be one of the best in the nation,” Garrett said. “We’re branching out to other parts of the state.”

Granthum, who took office in January, said Central Alabama Crimestoppers has several ways to combat crime.

“The tips are not just for current crime, we will take information on cold cases,” Granthum said. “We will take tips on anything.”
