The Selma High Saint defanged the Leflore Magnet School Rattlers 32-6 on Senior Night at Memorial Stadium.
The Saints offense put up a total of 32 points during the football game, all of which came in the first half, fin the form of four touchdowns with a completed 2-point conversion each time.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Saints only allowed the Rattlers to slither into the end zone once, during the fourth quarter, but they managed to stop the two-point conversion.
The huge lead gave the Saints plenty of breathing room as they went into the second half of the football game, Saints Head Coach Will Gandy decided to save his star players for next week’s game against Hueytown.
Though the Saints pulled off a victory on Friday, Gandy said the Saints still have much work to do before next week’s match-up, and unfortunately, not much time to do it.
“It’s always good to get that win but we’ve got some work to do,” said Gandy. “We’ve got to get ready for Hueytown next week, it’s going to be a big game for us. Defensively, we’ve got to come in with the mindset to get better. Offensively, we’ve got to put up some more points.”
Gandy called it a “blessing” to be in the play-offs this year, his first as Selma’s head Coach.
“I’m excited to be here, I’m excited to be a Saint and I’m excited to be going to the play-off’s my first year,” he said.
