Quarterback Jared Edwards closed the night leading the Bears to a 30-18 victory over R.C. Hatch.
In his final regular-season contest. Edwards threw for 250 yards, two touchdowns and ran for another 85 yards and a touchdown.
Keith High (6-4) travels to Lanett in a first-round Class 1A matchup next Friday night.
“We wanted to win on homecoming and enter the playoffs on a good note,” Edwards said.
Keith entered the second quarter trailing 6-0, but took a 10-6 halfime lead on a safety and Antonio Wood’s 35-yard touchdown run.
The Bobcats took a 12-10 early in the third quarter, but the Bears bounced back.
Edwards hit Terrell Lumpkin on a 40-yard touchdown pass and added a two-point conversion for a 18-12 lead after three quarters. Keith never trailed again.
The Bears put the game away on Edwards’ 10-yard touchdown run and Edwards’ 59-yard touchdown pass to Jayln Jones.
“It was a hell of a win against a decent R.C. Hatch team,” Keith head coach Anthony Lumpkin said.
