Former Alabama QB to speak at Selma QB Club

Eleven years ago, John Parker Wilson was Alabama’s career passing leader.
Wilson will be the keynote speaker at the Selma Quarterback Club on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Selma Convention Center.
A Montgomery native, Wilson became a highly-touted recruit after leading Hoover High to consecutive state championships in 2002 and 2003. He signed with Alabama.
Wilson eventually became a three-year starter and finished as the Crimson Tide’s career passing leader. During Wilson’s senior season, he helped lead Alabama to a No. 1 ranking until the Crimson Tide fell to Florida in the 2008 SEC Championship Game. The Gators won the national title that season.
Wilson is currently a color commentator for the Alabama Radio Network alongside legendary play-by-play man Eli Gold. Wilson has held the position for two seasons, replacing Phil Savage, an NFL Executive who’s now with the New York Jets.
Selma QB Captain Bob Frazer said Wilson will be a hit at the meeting on Monday.
“John Parker Wilson will be one of our top speakers this year,” Frazer said. “He will be a crowd favorite with our Alabama fan members. Former players offer a great perspective that coaches and commentators are unable to provide. It will be very entertaining and informative for everyone.”
Wilson threw for 7,924 yards and 47 touchdown passes in four years at Alabama.
Many consider Wilson as one of the most important players during Nick Saban’s first season as head coach in 2007.
The 6-foot-2 Wilson was a two-year starter and he allowed Saban to groom Greg McElroy and A.J. McCarron into starters on future national championship teams between 2009 and 2013.
As a professional, Wilson played three seasons in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons from 2009 to 2011.
Wilson, 33, currently lives in Mountain Brook with his wife, Tyler, and their son, Parks. He also works as a financial adviser for Morgan Stanley.
