That is such an important aspect when it comes to fighting cancer or any type of disease.

Mindset is important.

The Huffington Post released an article talking about managing your mindset when fighting cancer.

Ann Fry, the writer of the article, encourages patients to take on the diagnosis fully.

“Admit your fear, but don’t let it consume you. Admit that you have cancer and move forward. Take on doing what has to be done. Put one foot in front of the other,” she writes.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) echoes this. Although the ACS emphasizes that there’s no evidence to support that emotional interventions can reduce the risk of cancer, keep cancer from coming back or help the person with cancer live longer, it still helps a patient handle the diagnosis.

“An important part of coping with a cancer diagnosis is recognizing emotions and feelings. Treatment that deals with our emotions and relationships (sometimes called psychosocial interventions) can help people with cancer feel more upbeat and have a better quality of life,” according to the ACS website. “But there’s no good evidence to support the idea that these interventions can reduce the risk of cancer, keep cancer from coming back, or help the person with cancer live longer. Still, things like group support, individual therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques can be used to help reduce distress and cope with the emotions that come with a cancer diagnosis.”

Bumbrey is a fighter who didn’t let her diagnosis keep her down.

Thankfully, she is now cancer-free and it is important to remember throughout the entire process of treatment and recovery, she never lost her fighting spirit.
