The Selma-Dallas County Historic Preservation Society (SDCHPS) named the Orrville Farmer’s Market its Beautification award winner.

A SDCHPS certificate was presented to Orrville Farmer’s Market owner Judy McKinney at a ceremony on Thursday.

“I’m thrilled to receive this award,” McKinney said in a release.   “It’s nice to be recognized for renovating the building.  I guess we must be doing something right.  I’m happy to see the Board is giving awards for beautification.”

SDCHPS President Greg Bjelke praised McKinney for keeping the building in excellent condition.

“This building has made a significant improvement to a structure in need of repair,” Bjelke said.  “It has enhanced the appearance of the entire area of downtown Orrville and follows all county ordinances and codes.  We’re proud to be able to pilot our awards initiative by honoring Judy’s efforts.”

The official SDCHPS Beautification Awards initiative starts in January.  Any property owner interested in participating can complete the nomination form found on the SDCHPS website, HistoricSelma.org, starting next month. Two winners will be announced at a ceremony in March. Property owners in Dallas County are encouraged to apply.  For more information about the awards, contact Greg Bjelke at President@HistoricSelma.org.
