Utsey, Morgan Academy prevail on Homecoming

Morgan Academy rode the all-around performance of running back Holt Utsey to win its Homecoming contest.
Utsey had 310 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns as the Senators beat Success Unlimited 34-24 on Friday at Morgan Stadium.
Utsey ran 25 times for 236 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns. The junior also had a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half for the Senators (2-4).
“I’m very proud of our offensive line,” Utsey said. “I can’t be more prouder of them. We started the game slow and made mistakes, but we made up for it in the second half. “
Morgan Academy coach and Athletic Director Josh Thacker said he was proud of the Senators for playing well during Homecoming.
“The offense did a great job,” Thacker said. “We came into this game 0-0 because its the second half of the season. We need to step up because we get back to Region play next week.”
Running back Will Ingram also scored a touchdown and finished with 86 yards rushing.
Sophomore defensive back Trey Jones had a key interception in the third quarter, three plays after the Mustangs had a go-ahead touchdown called back for a holding penalty.”
